to the fun world of slope sailplanes, as presented by californiasailplanes.com. Soaring a radio controlled model sailplane along the crest of a hill, riding on the wind and the rising ocean of air, has been enjoyed for many years by people of all ages in all parts of the world.

Recently a major innovation was made that has increased the fun dimension dramatically. That innovation is EPP foam. It looks a lot like ol' fashioned styrofoam.... but it is light years ahead of it in practicality. It is light.... and bounces back to shape when impacted! EPP foam is used for car bumpers, helmets, and now RC sailplanes.

With the introduction of EPP foam planes we can now bounce our planes off the ground, and each other, and not destroy our model plane in the process. We can do air-to-air combat, and both parties happily fly away unharmed. Try that with a balsa wood airplane! In addition, EPP is easy material to shape, and planes can be built completely in an evening or two.
